Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 5, 2026

1. Introduction

MeasurementUnits.com ("we," "us," or "our") operates a free online unit conversion website. This Privacy Policy explains what information is collected when you visit our site, how it is used, and your rights regarding that information.

We are the data controller for information processed directly through this website. Certain data collection is performed by third-party services (such as analytics and advertising partners) that operate under their own privacy policies.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Information You Enter

When you use our conversion calculators, you may enter numeric values or select units. These inputs are processed entirely in your browser. We do not transmit conversion values to our servers and do not store them in a database.

2.2 Information Collected by Third Parties

We use third-party services that may automatically collect information about your visit, including:

  • Pages viewed and links clicked
  • Referring website or search terms
  • Browser type, device type, and operating system
  • Approximate geographic location (derived from IP address)
  • Date and time of visit

Google Analytics (GA4): We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use our site. Google may set cookies and collect identifiers associated with your device and browsing activity. Learn more at Google's Privacy Policy. You can opt out of Google Analytics using the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

Grow by Mediavine: We use Grow, a service provided by Mediavine, to support audience engagement and site monetization. Grow may collect usage data and set cookies or similar technologies. Learn more at Grow's Privacy Policy.

2.3 Browser Storage

We store certain preferences locally in your browser using localStorage, not on our servers. This includes your theme preference (light or dark mode) and optional search filter settings. You can clear this data at any time through your browser settings.

3. How We Use Information

We and our service providers use collected information to:

  • Provide and operate our conversion tools
  • Understand how visitors use the site and improve content and usability
  • Measure traffic and site performance
  • Display advertisements (when applicable)
  • Maintain site security and prevent abuse

4. Legal Basis for Processing (GDPR)

If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), United Kingdom, or Switzerland, we process personal data on the following bases:

  • Consent: For non-essential cookies and personalized advertising, where required by law.
  • Legitimate interests: To operate, secure, and improve our website, and to understand aggregate usage through analytics.
  • Legal obligation: Where we are required to comply with applicable law.

You may withdraw consent for non-essential cookies at any time by adjusting your browser settings or using the opt-out tools described in this policy.

5. Cookies and Tracking Technologies

We and our partners use cookies, pixels, and similar technologies. These fall into two categories:

  • Strictly necessary: Required for basic site functionality, such as remembering your theme preference via browser storage.
  • Analytics and advertising: Used by Google Analytics, Grow, and advertising partners to measure traffic and serve ads. These are not essential to use our conversion tools.

You can control cookies through your browser settings. Blocking cookies may affect certain site features. For more information, visit All About Cookies.

6. Third-Party Services

We work with the following categories of third-party providers:

  • Analytics: Google Analytics (Google LLC)
  • Audience engagement: Grow by Mediavine (Mediavine, Inc.)
  • Advertising: Mediavine and its advertising partners (see Section 7)

These providers process data under their own privacy policies. We do not sell your personal information directly. However, some third-party analytics and advertising services may constitute a "sale" or "sharing" of personal information under California law — see Section 11.

7. Advertising

We may display third-party advertisements on this website through Mediavine. The following disclosure is required by Mediavine for programmatic advertising:

Mediavine Programmatic Advertising (Ver 1.1)

The Website works with Mediavine to manage third-party interest-based advertising appearing on the Website. Mediavine serves content and advertisements when you visit the Website, which may use first and third-party cookies. A cookie is a small text file which is sent to your computer or mobile device (referred to in this policy as a “device”) by the web server so that a website can remember some information about your browsing activity on the Website.

First party cookies are created by the website that you are visiting. A third-party cookie is frequently used in behavioral advertising and analytics and is created by a domain other than the website you are visiting. Third-party cookies, tags, pixels, beacons and other similar technologies (collectively, “Tags”) may be placed on the Website to monitor interaction with advertising content and to target and optimize advertising. Each internet browser has functionality so that you can block both first and third-party cookies and clear your browser’s cache. The "help" feature of the menu bar on most browsers will tell you how to stop accepting new cookies, how to receive notification of new cookies, how to disable existing cookies and how to clear your browser’s cache. For more information about cookies and how to disable them, you can consult the information at All About Cookies.

Without cookies you may not be able to take full advantage of the Website content and features. Please note that rejecting cookies does not mean that you will no longer see ads when you visit our Site. In the event you opt-out, you will still see non-personalized advertisements on the Website.

The Website collects the following data using a cookie when serving personalized ads:

  • IP Address
  • Operating System type
  • Operating System version
  • Device Type
  • Language of the website
  • Web browser type
  • Email (in hashed form)

Mediavine Partners (companies listed below with whom Mediavine shares data) may also use this data to link to other end user information the partner has independently collected to deliver targeted advertisements. Mediavine Partners may also separately collect data about end users from other sources, such as advertising IDs or pixels, and link that data to data collected from Mediavine publishers in order to provide interest-based advertising across your online experience, including devices, browsers and apps. This data includes usage data, cookie information, device information, information about interactions between users and advertisements and websites, geolocation data, traffic data, and information about a visitor’s referral source to a particular website. Mediavine Partners may also create unique IDs to create audience segments, which are used to provide targeted advertising.

If you would like more information about this practice and to know your choices to opt-in or opt-out of this data collection, please visit National Advertising Initiative opt out page. You may also visit Digital Advertising Alliance website and Network Advertising Initiative website to learn more information about interest-based advertising. You may download the AppChoices app at Digital Advertising Alliance’s AppChoices app to opt out in connection with mobile apps, or use the platform controls on your mobile device to opt out.

For specific information about Mediavine Partners, the data each collects and their data collection and privacy policies, please visit Mediavine Partners.

8. Data Retention

We do not store conversion inputs or maintain user accounts. Data collected by third-party services is retained according to each provider's policies. Google Analytics data retention is configured in our GA4 property settings. You can clear locally stored preferences at any time through your browser.

9. Data Security

We use HTTPS encryption and follow standard security practices for our static website. Because conversion calculations run client-side and we do not store user inputs on our servers, the amount of sensitive data we directly handle is minimal.

10. International Data Transfers

Our third-party service providers, including Google and Mediavine, are based in the United States and may process data outside your country of residence. These transfers are subject to the providers' standard contractual safeguards and privacy frameworks.

11. Your Privacy Rights

11.1 European Economic Area, UK, and Switzerland (GDPR)

Depending on your location, you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal data held about you
  • Request correction of inaccurate data
  • Request deletion of your data
  • Object to or restrict certain processing
  • Data portability, where applicable
  • Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority

Because we do not store personal data on our own servers, most requests will involve third-party services. Contact us at the email below and we will assist you, including directing you to relevant provider opt-out tools where appropriate.

11.2 California Residents (CCPA/CPRA)

If you are a California resident, you have the right to:

  • Know what personal information is collected and how it is used
  • Request deletion of personal information
  • Opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information
  • Not receive discriminatory treatment for exercising your rights

We do not sell your personal information for money. However, certain analytics and advertising cookies may be considered a "sale" or "sharing" under California law. To opt out of interest-based advertising, visit the Digital Advertising Alliance opt-out page or the NAI opt-out page. To submit a privacy request, email us at

13. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will reflect any changes. Continued use of the site after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
