Frequency counts how many cycles occur per second, measured in hertz (Hz). Radio and processors use megahertz and gigahertz; turntables and engines use RPM; music tempo uses beats per minute (BPM).
Many frequency conversions are simple multiples of ten (1 kHz = 1,000 Hz). RPM and BPM require dividing by 60 to get hertz when each cycle is one revolution or one beat per cycle.
